Biaco has deliberately maintained a low public profile to protect the technology while we develop and secure our intellectual property. We have shared only targeted updates about collaborations and verification to safeguard commercial and technical progress.
In 2026 we will expand our external communications, including broader PR activity and the publication of scientific papers, so you can expect to see more public updates as our work is further validated and scaled.
Coefficient of Performance (CoP) is a metric used to measure performance of heating systems. It is the ratio of useful heating provided to the energy required to deliver it.
We are currently operating a prototype system in Biaco’s laboratories and are planning to trial a 50 kW demonstrator system with industrial partners from late 2026. Commercial product launch is planned for 2028.
Replacing the entire UK gas network is a major, long‑term undertaking — it serves roughly 30 million homes, 1.4 million businesses and a wide range of industrial and agricultural users, accounting for 687 TWh of energy use in 2024. That scale means transition will require significant time and resources.
However, the Biaco system demonstrates clear potential as a low‑carbon heat source. It is relevant for many commercial and residential heating applications in the UK, Northern Europe and North America, and for industrial uses worldwide, offering a practical option for organisations and sectors seeking to reduce reliance on fossil gas.
Biaco is financed by more than 180 shareholders of which more than 95% are based in the UK, including significant ownership by members of the Board. To date we have raised nearly £10M. A small amount of grant funding has also contributed to the system’s development, awarded by Innovate UK and local authorities.
We are now broadening our investor outreach to finance growth, manufacturing scale‑up and the commercial organisation needed for a 2028 product launch.
